You are invited to our September general meeting, which is happening virtually this Thursday, 9/17 from 2:00-3:30pm. The agenda includes the following.

  • Facilities Preparation for COVID-19 - David Darling, Associate Vice President of Facilities Planning and Management
  • Staff Emergency Fund Update - Susan Harnden, Director of HealthPoint
  • University Communications Update - Gary Susswein, Chief Communications Officer and Cindy Posey, Director of Internal Communications

The planned budget update from John McGeady, Budget Director, has been postponed to October.  At the October meeting, we’ll also be hearing from Binta Brown, the new Director of Diversity and Talent Management for the Financial and Administrative Services portfolio.

If you missed our August general meeting, you can review the draft minutes here and the recording is also available online.

A couple other items of note:

  • COVID-19 testing – if you are coming to campus regularly, and do not have symptoms, you are encouraged to take advantage of UT’s proactive community testing to make sure that you are, in fact, negative.  It is saliva-based, quick, and easy.  If you do have symptoms, you would want to get the standard test from UT Health or another provider.  UT Health testing provides quicker results than many other local providers.
  • Voting on Campus – many folks have been interested to know what voting on campus will look like this fall.  The polling locations have been confirmed, and they will be Flawn Academic Center and Gregory Gym.  In general, please consider voting on campus only if you live nearby or are already coming to campus.  If you are working remotely, it would be better to vote in your own area so that the campus locations are not overcrowded.  Also, as a reminder, the deadline to register or update your address (which can now be initiated via text in Travis County) is Monday, October 5th, and early voting begins on Tuesday, October 13th.  You can use work time to vote as per the Time Off to Vote policy.

As always, please let us know if you have issues or concerns that you’d like us to address.  You can send them to your representative(s), directly to me, or via our optionally anonymous Issues Form.

Be well, and I hope to see many of you on Thursday.
