What a year this has been! When I was elected as incoming Staff Council Chair this past February, I had no idea of everything we would be facing as a community over the course of 2020. But thanks to your ceaseless efforts, we are getting through it. I have faith that we will come out stronger, and look forward to new possibilities and opportunities for us all in 2021. I cannot express what an honor it is to serve you as we navigate these challenges together.

With that, I'd like to invite you to our last Staff Council general meeting of the year. Our December general meeting will be held this Thursday, December 17th, from 2:00-3:30 pm.

Our primary agenda item will be a presentation on COVID-19 vaccine distribution to the university community by Jonathan Robb, Director of the Office of Campus Safety. Melissa Loe, Director of FAS Communications, and Dr. Terrance Hines, Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer for University Health Services will also be present to help answer questions. Plans are evolving daily, so even if you have seen a presentation already, you may wish to attend for the latest updates. If you have specific questions you would like to see addressed, you are welcome to send them to me in advance.

We will also be hearing from our committees that did not present in November on their work so far this fall, and getting a preview of our upcoming bylaws changes that will be up for a vote in spring.

Lastly, I wanted to let you know that as you may have seen, I will be serving on the Provost Search Committee to represent staff. If you have thoughts or ideas on this important process that you would like me to consider, please reach out to me at any time. I welcome your valuable insights.

With best wishes for a wonderful and restful holiday season,
