Professional Development Grant Program

At the heart of Staff Council is a desire to help staff who want to help themselves. Guided by this desire, our 2014-15 Professional Development Committee formed a plan to help fund staff enrollment in professional development courses.

Working with partners in Human Resources, Staff Council is now pleased to offer the Professional Development Grant Program to provide additional funding source opportunities in conjunction with the Essentials for Developmental Excellence (EDE) training certificate.

The EDE training certificate is specifically designed for individuals committed to formulating and seeing through a personal development plan.

In addition, funds have been set aside specifically for managers to participate in HR’s 360° Feedback. If you are a manager interested in this opportunity, please complete this application process below starting with step 4.

Application Process for funds:

  1. Get supervisor approval
    • Download and complete supervisor approval form
  2. Get career or training guidance (optional, but highly recommended)
    • Complete the EDE introductory courses:
    • Meet with a career coach to discussion your developmental goals – Email careersmart@austin.utexas.edu to schedule an appointment with a member of the Essentials for Developmental Excellence team. Note: Ongoing, regular career counseling is available to those enrolled in the EDE Certificate program, while only one-off appointments are available to those not participating in the program, based on the EDE team’s availability.
